Should You Choose An Electric Or DC Battery Stair Lift?

Purchasing stair lifts is a big decision to be sure. There are a lot of different models and types, as well as options to choose from. That said, one of your first decisions will need to be whether to go with a lift that operates on electric power, or opt for one of the models that runs on DC laptop battery power? Electric Stair Lifts
This has always been the most common type of chair lift. Either you, or an electrician, wire the power supply directly to your home’s electric box. The lift can then be operated and used whenever needed. It doesn’t require laptop batteries and there’s little to no maintaining it.
There are really two main problems with an AC electric lift. The first is that it is subject to your power supply. By that I mean if you happen to live in an area that is prone to severe weather that leaves you without power for any period of time, then you will not have an operational lift. I’ve had times where we lost power for nearly a week from a really bad ice storm last winter. Think what that means to you if you need to get up and down the stairs?
The other main issue is even more problematic. The days of being able to buy new electric stairway lifts are numbered at best. Companies are moving to strictly battery operated models. The last thing you want to do is purchase a lift that is only going to be considered obsolete in a short period of time.
DC Camcorder Battery Operated Stair Lifts
Your other choice is to get a battery operated lift. I have to say that the technology for this style of lift has come a long way. In fact, you could say that about most all of the battery operated tools and equipment.
As I mentioned above, in the coming years this will be the only style of power available in a lift as they phase out AC Adapter electric models entirely. I understand that if you happen to have a curved staircase, this is the only powered lift available now.
The big advantage here is that you do not need to have an electrician come out and hook it up. Nor will you consume as much in energy costs each month.
Another huge benefit is that this type of model is not dependent on a continuous supply of electricity. So, if you do lose your power for whatever reason you will not need to be concerned about using the stair lift.
Charging and re-charging the batteries is as simple as it comes. And with today’s advanced technology, these power tool batteries stay charged for much longer periods of time. As you can see, choosing the right type of lift is very important. Take the time to consider your current situation, talk to some of the various dealers, and you will be able to make a solid decision on which way to go.
